Design Case - Customized Vintage Streetwear Hoodie
STEP 1: CLIENT'S DESIGN IDEA
With the prevalence of vintage and nostalgic styles, more and more customers are coming to TOUCHES DARK wanting to create their own branded vintage style streetwear collection and wanting us to help them design their own vintage washed style. As TOUCHES DARK is an expert in customizing vintage streetwear, the client asked for a custom hoodie with “wind” as a design element!
STEP 2: Design Inspiration: Traces of the Wind - Those Where the Wind Blows
The overall use of washing technology on the sweater creates a similar effect. The texture of "the wind blowing over a flat surface leaves a trace"
The letter "everyone" is chosen because the designer believes that the "wind" affects everyone and that humans and nature coexist. The letter has also been given a broken texture similar to "air drying" to give it a "historical" look.
Here, the flame element has also been added, as there is the presence of the "wind", so the flame will also "spread with the wind".This area also has a similar "air-dried" broken texture to give it a "historical" look.
STEP 3:THE DESIGN PLAN - THE DESIGNER INFUSES IT WITH A STORY
These design concepts were created by TOUCHES DARK designers based on the client's request for a theme of “wind”, with the aim of showcasing the multi-dimensional nature of wind through the sweatshirt. Each image captures the dynamic beauty and natural power of wind, from the lines of a canyon cave to the streamlined silhouette of a sand dune to the delicate depiction of ripples on water. Warm earth tones and calm blue-gray were chosen for the colors, thus enhancing the overall visual hierarchy and conveying the dual character of the wind as both gentle and wild. The designer's goal was not only to create a unique garment, but also to tell the story of the wind and make the wearer feel the charm of nature.
STEP 4: SELECTION OF FABRICS
To fully express the concept, the designers at TOUCHES DARK chose a thick, 100% cotton, fishscale-backed fabric for this sweater, not only because it's durable and easy to wash, but also because of its ability to create what I envisioned as a “wind trail” through a special texture treatment. The fabric can be processed in different ways. The fabric can be processed in different ways to create natural folds and textures, like the wind's imprint on the fabric, creating a unique visual and tactile sensation.
STEP 5:DELIVERIES
After seeing the design drawings, the client was very satisfied with our design and wanted to inject the lettering element “Never Settle” that they wanted, and also added the color requirement. After further communication, the designers finished the final design that the client wanted. And according to the design drawings of the prototype, after the customer received the prototype, to determine the color, fabric, technology and sweatshirt size in line with the final 5,000 pieces of orders reached the cooperation.
